Horse Friends Society was founded after many years of working with and rehabbing horses with behavioural and health difficulties.
We wanted to create a safe environment where they could finally recover.
We noticed that after addressing the root cause, horses can overcome the struggles that used to define them and begin a new life.
Today, at our centre, across Slovenia and in parts of Italy, we raise awareness about responsible horse ownership, provide care and advise owners so that as many horses as possible can enjoy a better quality of life.

About Us and our Goals
The Society is dedicated to helping both people and horses.
Our goals are to raise awareness of responsible animal ownership and humane handling of horses. As well as providing horse care, we organize educational events and work with experts to educate people about different topics related to horse welfare.
We aim to help horses that have been written off, are unwanted, or can no longer be cared for by their owners with over 100 horses saved or helped since our founding. We are also committed to promoting and preserving the Lipizzaner breed, which is native to Slovenia and currently experiencing a decrease in population.
At the same time, we want to support people who find peace and happiness in the company of horses and to provide equal opportunities for everyone. We have experience working with neurodivergent children and adults and understand how helpful the presence of horses can be. To this aim, we offer youth programs and camps with an emphasis on acceptance and understanding.
Our Society is a place where hope lives.
Since 2026, Horse Friends Society has held public-interest status in the field of animal protection in Slovenia. We are extremely proud of this recognition, as it confirms our mission and opens up new opportunities for us to help.
