About Us - History

Horsefriends Large Animal Rescue, Inc. was founded in 2002. The founding of Horsefriends Large Animal Rescue, Inc. actually started very small, with kittens. For the last few years we have done a large amount of foster work with kittens. From the kitten fostering work, and years of experience with horses and donkeys, came the idea that we could help large animals as well.

Prior to the creation of Horsefriends Large Animal Rescue, Inc. we ran a horse and rider training facility. The name Horsefriends Large Animal Rescue comes from the original farm name of Horsefriends Farm. Initially we thought we would work with horses, but we discovered there is a very large need for donkey rescue.
